I spoke and signed books at a weekend crop in Hershey, Pennsylvania! It was such a great group of women. Many thanks to Wendy Jo for the awesome invitation and the opportunity to be the FIRST author in the new Fisk-a-teer Book Club. I met so many wonderful people who shared their scrapbooks, friendship and stories with me. From the chocolate tasting lesson to the trolley ride to the late night crop session, it was one of the most rewarding "work" experiences I've ever had. Many thanks to the Fisk-a-teers for their warm welcome, good wishes, and enthusiasm. I just loved every minute of it and can't wait to stay in touch.

Crop For the Cure Talk at Scrapdoodles!!

Let me first say I'm crazy busy so it's hard to keep up with my blog sometimes. So many exciting things are happening with A PAGE OUT OF LIFE that I feel caught in a whirlwind. Many thanks to my friends at Scrapdoodles especially very cute and very cookin' accomplished Cheryl Reiter who first invited me to sign books for Scrapdoodles' Crop for a Cure. What an amazing cause and experience. I met so many GREAT women who really inspired me. I was particularly touched by the stories of Carolyn and Becky who are best friends and were diagnosed at the exact same time. They helped each other through the whole ordeal, scrapped their recovery and are both doing well now. I love a happy ending!! Or, Virginia who shared information about a new and improved laser to detect breast cancer sooner- ask your doctor.

And, this past Friday, I went up to have lunch with scrapbooking celebrity Donna Downey. It was fantastic to see her creations up close. Her watercolors are just amazing. She may have some great ideas for my sequel that I'm writing (with what time?).

I'm off to speak at my first weekend crop in Hershey Pennsylvania. I can't wait!! More later . . .

Scrapbook Cottages

Many thanks to Patty Fletcher and my new friends at Scrapbook Cottages in San Antonio, Texas! I did a book club call in and we had a fabulous time. I loved hearing everyone's stories about why they loved APOOL and how it related to their own experiences in life and scrapbooking. Clearly, the group really connected with my theme of the "sisterhood of scrapbookers" and how this has changed their lives.

So this group is into "Everythink ink!" I loved how Patty compared scrapbooking to fashion, namely women's shoes. That once you think you've got great shoes with spiky heels, they go out of style . . . This group is all about recipe scrapbooking which I had never heard before.

There are so many fantastic ideas out there. I can't wait to hear yours . . .

I'm crazy busy getting ready to do several talks in different parts of the country, getting my kids back to school and writing a sequel to A PAGE OUT OF LIFE!!

Speaking Engagements

I've just signed with Arnett and Associates- Premier Speakers, Talent and Leadership International as representation. I just ran across this picture of my eleven year old daughter's friends from her recent birthday party. How much cake do you think landed in their mouths?

First Ever Trip to CHA Thanks to Colorbok!!

Wow! CHA in Chicago was an amazing experience. I did a book signing at the very cool Colorbok booth on Friday and Saturday. Many thanks to Shanni, Wendy, Rebecca, Linda et al for the kind invitation. All of my books were gone in thirty minutes both days and I met so many wonderful new friends! I even put together a scrapbook (pictured) for the event with all of the new Colorbok products. I did three full layouts for each character without actual pictures of them because I want readers to imagine what Ashley, Tara and Libby look like. I may even post a picture of one of my writer friends who reminds me a bit of Ashley . . .

At first, it was a sea of new faces and ideas on Friday morning. I was absolutely amazed at all of the different booths and displays. I felt a bit like Dorothy when she arrived in Oz. So many colorful and creative booths, sights and sounds. But, its always those amusing little moments that leave a lasting impact. One of the first familiar faces I saw was Cathy Cano Murillo a.k.a. The CraftyChica who had interviewed me for an article for Lifetimetv.com and, well, we met in the Ladies Room of all places . . . We had a wonderful conversation about the crossover between crafting and writing. I, of course, learned to scrapbook creatively while I researched my novel (and thanks to my friends at Memories Galore here in Richmond- especially thanks to Dawn Hobbs who has laughed and scrapped through this whole media blitz with me! ) Our craftychica loved to craft and then decided to write her novel. I'll keep you posted.

All in all, I came home from CHA energized and excited about meeting so many new people. Special thanks to Joy from EK success for suggesting I do a make and take and the very memorable quote "you know, it's all about the tools." I'm excited about the future and I think I learned enough new stuff to put in a sequel . . .

Signing at Beach Scrapbooks

Since A Page Out of Life was released on April 29th, I have made so many new friends. In particular, my first signing outside of Richmond in Virginia Beach was great fun! Many thanks to Jen and Janice for making it happen at Beach Scrapbooks. When I arrived, I was so surprised to find that they had sold out of all of my books. Not a bad problem to have on a sunny Saturday afternoon. I grabbed a box from the car and we made it work! In particular, I'd like to thank Wanda for reading the book immediately and sending me such a wonderful email. What a great start!!
